We stand firmly on the principle that Judaism and Zionism are diametrically opposed. Zionism is a political movement that has hijacked our sacred religion for its nationalistic agenda. Our faith is one of peace, adherence to the Torah, and justice—not political nationalism.
No Jew can be forced against his religion to serve a state that misrepresents the Jewish faith. The Israeli draft law represents an attempt to erase the distinction between the Jewish people and the Zionist state. This violates the fundamental right to freedom of conscience and religion.
Article 18 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights guarantees everyone the right to freedom of thought, conscience, and religion. The Israeli draft law directly violates this international human rights standard by attempting to impose a national obligation that conflicts with deeply held religious convictions.
